Class of 2023 College Choices, Stats

Saturday, May 20, marked the Commencement of Shorecrest's Centennial Class of 2023. This impressive group of 91 students included: 
  • 24 Lifers who attended Shorecrest for 12 years or longer
  • 12 students completed Shorecrest signature programs, earning special seals on their diplomas for STEAM (9 students) and Global Scholars (3 students) 
  • 10 students recognized by the National Merit Scholarship Corporation 
  • 7 Thespians acknowledged by the Broadway Star of the Future Awards 
  • 5 NCAA committed student-athletes
  • 10,500+ service hours

Bolded schools indicated institutions to which at least one Shorecrest student in the Class of 2023 will matriculate. It's wonderful to have admission offers from multiple colleges as students plan exciting paths ahead. While they may have chosen not to attend some of these institutions for a variety of reasons, they are achievements worth recognizing and celebrating. With the University of Florida ranked as a Top 5 Public Institution, it has become an increasingly popular destination for matriculating students across the state and country. Overall, Shorecrest students had a 47% acceptance rate at UF, compared to the a 30% overall acceptance at UF. Similarly, Florida State University is also a top choice in the State of Florida. 50% of Shorecrest applications to FSU were accepted, versus an overall acceptance rate of 23% at FSU.
