Fifth Graders Host Cereal Drive

by: Melanie Jarvis, MS Spanish Teacher
One of the Shorecrest Core Values is Compassion. Seeing an unmet need in our Tampa Bay community spurred two fifth graders into action. Every year since 2020, Anderson O. and Haydon S. have helped fellow children in the Tampa Bay area by hosting a Cereal for Summer food drive. This year their efforts were very fruitful. They collected 194 pounds of cereal, creating 21,200 meals; and they raised $3,852.59 in donations. The cereal collection took place at school and the money was raised at a lemonade stand in their neighborhood over a weekend.

Thank you Anderson and Haydon for showing compassion and for helping Tampa Bay area students have breakfast over the summer.
