FLORIDA STATE JR. THESPIAN FESTIVAL 2023 RESULTS

by: Stephanie McCarthy, MS Music and Thespian Director
Qualifying Middle School students from Shorecrest Jr. Thespian Troupe 88197 had the honor of participating in the Florida State Jr. Thespian Festival held at the Orlando Convention Center from January 12-14, 2023. Attending students and their parents enjoyed the Opening Ceremony on Thursday evening showcasing the Top Honor acts from each of Florida’s twelve districts. Friday’s events consisted of numerous workshops including a “West Side Story” dance workshop, shadow puppetry, Broadway dance experience, musical theatre acting through song, and investigating the red nose – a clowning workshop taught by our MS Theatre Teacher, Matthew Belopavlovich, to over 250 students! On Saturday Troupe 88197 members performed their own qualifying acts for adjudication throughout the day earning a total of 32 individual awards! The three-day event concluded with a Saturday evening Closing Ceremony showcasing the amazing top acts from each category at the State Festival.

Come see some of the amazing, award-winning Jr. Thespian acts at the MS Variety Show on Thursday, February 16 at 7pm in the Janet Root Theatre.
