Even at a distance, May continues to be a busy and exciting month at Shorecrest as we wrap up the 2019-2020 school year. Though certainly not the way we envisioned March through May, I have been inspired and encouraged by so many examples of our community members coming together to support each other and finding ways to make the best of this challenging situation. From a virtual fourth grade moving up ceremony to our first-ever drive through diploma distribution parade, the spring of 2020 is making Shorecrest history! I encourage you to bookmark Ebytes and to follow us on social media as we share these and other special end-of-year events.
All Shorecrest families have access to many support services and programs through The Learning Center, or TLC. The TLC is probably best known by families of children who benefit from extra support by specialists like occupational therapists, speech/language therapists, and tutors. What some families may not know is that, in addition to those important services, the TLC exists to support every learner at Shorecrest.
From consulting with parents on academic concerns, to supporting teachers with differentiating instruction, to working directly with students highlight strengths and identify areas for improvement, the professionals of The Learning Center impact the experience of each and every Shorecrest student.
Learn more about The Learning Center at www.shorecrest.org/health. There you can request a meeting or a call with the leaders of the TLC, Tracie Belt and Miriam Pardoll, who can help identify ways to support your student this summer and in the transition back to campus this fall.
Our Plan A is to return to school in-person and on-campus in August with elevated health and hygiene practices. We are preparing for a number of different scenarios and will share detailed plans with our community as soon as conditions become more clear. Families can expect regular, biweekly updates over the summer, beginning June 1.
