MS Musical Auditions: "The Wizard of Oz"

by: Stephanie McCarthy, MS Music and Jr. Thespian Director
Shorecrest Middle School Performing Arts will soon be holding auditions for a fall musical production of "The Wizard of Oz," based on the novel by L. Frank Baum and the classic motion picture. Students in sixth, seventh and eighth grades are eligible to audition. All rehearsals take place after school.

Audition dates/times
  • Tuesday, August 20, 3-5:30pm: Everyone for Singing and Movement
  • Wednesday, August 21, 3-5:30pm: Reading for Roles and Solos
  • Thursday, August 22, 3-5:30pm: Callbacks for Roles and Solos
Students interested in playing any role outside of the Ensemble must attend on Tuesday and Wednesday plus be available for Thursday should they get called back.
Students participating in a fall sport may still be in the cast of "The Wizard of Oz," but will not be eligible for leading or supporting roles due to time restraints of practice vs. rehearsal. (We know Shorecrest students are super, but unfortunately they do not possess a superpower to be in two amazing places at once.) A detailed rehearsal schedule on PowerSchool (when school starts) will outline when athletic students will be called to production rehearsals.
Performances will be held in the Janet Root Theatre at Shorecrest on Friday, November 1, at 7pm, and a matinee on Saturday, November 2, at 2pm.

THE WIZARD OF OZ is presented by arrangement with Tams-Witmark, A Concord Theatricals Company,
