The attached calendar for the 2019-2020 school year has a few changes that are intentional.
First, you will see the students begin school on August 14. This is in line with our normal opening day, though it is a week earlier than it was for the current school year, which was modified to accommodate the construction schedule. This also allows for the first semester to be a similar length of time as the second semester
The other significant change is that Spring Break will be moved to February. This decision allows the administration to have increased opportunities to meet with teaching candidates during the peak of the recruitment period for independent schools.
The entire community will have a three-day break in March and another in April to break up the long stretch from February 24 to the end of the school year.
The calendar also allows us to complete classes before Memorial Day.
Although we are required to have only 170 school days, we build our calendar to include 177 school days. That helps to avoid additional calendar disruption in the event of major storm.
While we are still just finishing the first quarter of this school year, we hope this information will help you with you planning.
